You know how I like the minimalist approach! It has the address and phone number, what more does it need?

Candidate for "understatement of the year." :)

They'll have that place whipped into shape in no time flat.

Tom,

I think mine said "Time Capsule" which is what I called mine. But I didn't go in through Network Places. It mapped a drive to "z:" automatically for me and I just used that.

Hi -- I'm curious; from your XP machine if you go the the mapped drive do you see the name of the TC that you assigned, or do you see a number> For example, I see \01ff3c79851\Time Capsule when I browse to the Time Capsule via My Network Places. I can't figure out how to make the name I assigned show up.

Very handy--many thanks! I'm sure I still have my M-Tech 9 "manual" (piece of paper :-) ) around somewhere, but I couldn't find it tonight. Your discovery was a big help.

One difference: the Avocet manual claims the only way to change km/mi is to pop the battery, but that's not true of the Mavic. Just do the two-button press-and-hold thing, and the first option you get is km vs. miles. (It's not clear from the text, but this also wipes out your mileage, so record that first if you care...)

Glad to hear it did what you needed it to!

You can buy an external USB hard drive and plug it in. There is some sort of "archive to external disk" feature but I've never used it. I use mine for backup, not for actual storage, so redundancy wasn't a big deal to me, but I can see where it would be for you.
