		<description>Very handy--many thanks!  I'm sure I still have my M-Tech 9 "manual" (piece of paper :-) ) around somewhere, but I couldn't find it tonight.  Your discovery was a big help.

One difference:  the Avocet manual claims the only way to change km/mi is to pop the battery, but that's not true of the Mavic.  Just do the two-button press-and-hold thing, and the first option you get is km vs. miles.  (It's not clear from the text, but this also wipes out your mileage, so record that first if you care...)</description>
