As a visitor from the 20th century I often find the interest perplexing. I did find my way to you -- thank goodness. You saved me from a hysterial panic attack. Thank you! I also printed out the instructions because by the time the battery dies I will have forgotten what to do. Thank you again!

I'm calibrating everything correctly. Once the unit is placed on the bracket, it reverts to the SE L (home) setting once the bike begins to move.

I have taken it off, put it back on, taken out the battery for 15 secs...to no avail. It just recalibrates itself to it's default setting and I can't figure out why. Today was THE day to figure it out and I thought I would...but I didn't. HELP!

Very handy--many thanks! I'm sure I still have my M-Tech 9 "manual" (piece of paper :-) ) around somewhere, but I couldn't find it tonight. Your discovery was a big help.

One difference: the Avocet manual claims the only way to change km/mi is to pop the battery, but that's not true of the Mavic. Just do the two-button press-and-hold thing, and the first option you get is km vs. miles. (It's not clear from the text, but this also wipes out your mileage, so record that first if you care...)
