Mavic M-Tech 9 User Guide

Recently my wife purchased a used road bike. It came with a Mavic M Tech 9 Cycle computer, but no user guide. It needed to be calibrated for some reason. After googling about every combination I could think of I had come up dry. That is when I got lucky and stumbled into one of those things that makes me look like an awesome online researcher. In desperation I google for just a basic bike computer, hoping that the manual from another computer would clue me into the numbers it was looking for. I ended up on a forum and the second link I clicked on was for an Avocet Cyclometer 15 User Guide. It is the same computer basically, in a slightly different case. The only difference I have found so far, is that the Avocet designates the odometer as “D” while the Mavic M-Tech 9 does so with and ODO. Other than that, everthing seems to work just the same.

Thanks this was a great help as I too had problems finding the correct user and installation instructions for the M Tech 9 unit … thanks again!

Very handy–many thanks! I’m sure I still have my M-Tech 9 “manual” (piece of paper :-) ) around somewhere, but I couldn’t find it tonight. Your discovery was a big help.

One difference: the Avocet manual claims the only way to change km/mi is to pop the battery, but that’s not true of the Mavic. Just do the two-button press-and-hold thing, and the first option you get is km vs. miles. (It’s not clear from the text, but this also wipes out your mileage, so record that first if you care…)

I’m calibrating everything correctly. Once the unit is placed on the bracket, it reverts to the SE L (home) setting once the bike begins to move.

I have taken it off, put it back on, taken out the battery for 15 secs…to no avail. It just recalibrates itself to it’s default setting and I can’t figure out why. Today was THE day to figure it out and I thought I would…but I didn’t. HELP!
