5th Phone In A Year.

Well I am onto yet another new phone from Verizon Wireless.  My XV6700 has been freezing up, particularly when answering calls.  Then last week I started getting a vibrating sound in the speaker when people would talk to me.

While very very annoying, I have come to the realization that this phone runs windows and will need to be rebooted weekly.  The only way to fix it would be to go to a non-windows based phone (which I am still considering).  But the vibrating sound issue had to be fixed.  So I called Verizon, and the first thing the tech wanted me to do was to do a soft reset.  He started describing how to do it, and I said “Oh I’m all to familiar with that”.  He asked why, and I explained the freezing issue when taking a call.

After seeing the history on how many phones I have been through he offered a new XV6700 without hesitation.  So this is my 5th Windows Mobile based smart phone this year.  Maybe it will fix my the freezing up issue, but I’m not holding my breath.  Might be time to try a blackberry.

Yeah, don’t hold your breath. The guys at the office have had success with the Motorola Q. It’s windows based, but it’s apparently a better phone. The 6700 is a great PDA, but as a phone it’s pretty mediocre. The noticed difference has been with stability (and signal strength) with the Q vs. th 6700.
