I Tried Something New!

I introduced you to Buckhead Burrito Grill in my post about moldy chips at Chilitos in Kennesaw. Today was BBG Day.  Last week I had gone determined to try something new, the BFC (Buckhead Fried Chicken) Burrito, but they were out of BFC, so I opted for the old Rio standby.  Today they had BFC so I tried it, and there are now two things I can recommend off the menu!

I can’t believe it. You finally try the BFC and I wasn’t there to experience it with you. I’m going home to pout the rest of the evening.

    It’s pretty awesome, isn’t it?! ;-)

  2. theguru Says:

Well that will teach you to skip BBG day!

  3. SandroEspinosa Says:

I am the owner of Chilitos, I’m sorry that you had that experience at our restaurant, but I can assure you that there was no mold on the chips, the company that manufacture the tortillas for our chips also makes black, green and red tortilla chips and sometimes the color spills or gets mixed up in the machine, they all have a 30 day shelf life and ours do not spend more than 4 days in our fridge. We make chips every hour in order to better serve our customers by providing fresh chips. Please consider this information and feel confident that the chips contained no mold. We invite you to give us another chance, so I’m sending you a 5 Free Burrito Cards, if you would send me your email, I reply with the certificate. sandro@chilitosburritos.com

    Regards,

    Sandro Espinosa

Yeah, I knew it couldn’t be true. I swear, I love that place.

  5. theguru Says:

    Is black dye fuzzy?

  6. FilterMan Says:

Buckhead Burrito Grill (BBG) is less than a mile From Chilito’s and having eaten at both I will make the extra mile drive any day to go to BBG. The Rio Burrito at BBG is awesome and I have tried the “comparable” item at Chilito’s. Ron, I am sorry you are so close minded that you cannot join us for BBG every Wednesday at noon.

I was also wondering if those 5 free burrito cards that Sandro is offering will come with moldy chips! (oops I mean chips with fuzzy black die on them.)

  7. ronzilla Says:

    This is fun.

Why Chilito’s is better than Buckhead Burrito Grill 10 times out of 10:
    1. more meat on the burrito.
    2. better meat on the burrito
    3. better tasting rice
    4. better tasting salsa
    5. whole wheat tortillas! (they’re awesome)
    6. better hot sauce
    7. nicer people

I’ve had my share of trips to BBG, and while I’ll eat there if I’m with either of you two, I always end up thinking it would have been a better lunch if we had gone to Chilito’s.

If you absolutely have to get the Rio, then, yes, there really isn’t a similar burrito at Chilito’s. They don’t have average quality chicken or a nasty white creamy sauce to put on your burrito.

Since the first time guru mentioned the chips, I’ve inspected every chip I’ve eaten at Chilitos and haven’t found anything wrong with any of them (and I eat there more frequently than you eat at BBG). You should have taken a picture with that camera phone you (conveniently) didn’t have with you. Then I would have believed you.

Now I’m hungry. Chilitos for lunch, anyone?

  8. ronzilla Says:

oh yeah, one more thing…how many restaurants do you eat at that consistantly have 98+ scores from the health department?

There was no mold. You just have an overly active imagination.

  9. theguru Says:

Right, me and 4 other people imagined the same thing.

You are entitled to your opinion Ron…even if it is wrong.

  10. not ron Says:

I agree with Ron. You’re just crazy. :)

  11. Jdoggy Says:

I think Ronzilla’s post was a paid endorsement… How much did you get paid for that one Ron?

  12. ronzilla Says:

Didn’t get paid a cent, but my customer card has 10 punches now, so I’m due a free lunch next time around.
